A garment fitted before a metre of cloth is cut.
A fashion house wanted to fit, judge and show its garments before sewing a sample. Render builds a body from its measurements, drafts the pattern for it, drapes the cloth on the GPU and reads the fit. A ray-traced still and an Unreal Engine render both draw that same settled garment.
Clothing, prints, patterns and fabrics, from first idea to production.
Every garment passes through sketch, pattern, fabric and fitting, and every physical sample costs cloth and weeks.
Can a garment be fitted and judged before it is sewn?
On a body with real measurements, in the house's own fabrics, and in a view good enough to decide from.
A body fitted to four measurements, height, bust, waist and hip, to within a tenth of a centimetre.
doneA parametric pattern drafted for that body, with the ease the design asks for.
doneThe pattern sewn and draped on the GPU with NVIDIA Warp as the solver, run until the cloth comes to rest on a 1 cm mesh.
doneEase at bust, waist and hip, and the stretch along every seam, read off the draped garment, so a tight bust or a pulling seam shows as a number.
doneThe same garment in a ray-traced still and rendered in Unreal Engine, with the fabric at its true scale.
done34 seconds instead of 208.
A shirt draped on an RTX graphics card with NVIDIA Warp, six times faster than on the CPU, with the fit reading the same: 6.1 cm of ease at the bust on the GPU against 6.5 cm on the CPU. A dress settles in 65 to 75 seconds.
A second look in about a second.
The same body, garment and fabric come back in 1.1 seconds instead of 47, so a fitting can move at the pace of the conversation.
Every view draws the same cloth.
The ray-traced still and the Unreal render show one draped garment, so what is judged is what was simulated.
A check is the size it will be cut.
Prints and weaves are laid at their real repeat, so a stripe or a check reads at the scale it will be on the body.
Photoreal, judged from a render.
Unreal Engine renders the settled garment ray-traced, with the fabric laid at its real scale, so a designer, a buyer or a client judges a picture of what was simulated.
Every drape is labelled.
A drape is shown as unvalidated until it is scored against a bench measurement of real cloth.
The garment is only the start of its life.
Living Worlds simulates the lives around a product: the households that buy, what they want and how that changes over the years. The fit read from the drape is a measured input those simulations can use.
They are held to the rule every Living Worlds result is held to: registered before the data is read, scored once, and shown as unvalidated until then. In energy, a model built that way forecast forty unmetered feeders better than physics and a learned model, in every season.
